Google Business Profile suspended - what to do
๐ August 21, 2026 | โ๏ธ Don Curtin
Suspended means Google has disabled the profile for policy reasons. It does not mean your company stopped existing. It does mean Maps and local results that depended on that profile will look broken until Google says otherwise.
I’m going to stay inside what I can honestly help with. I cannot “unsuspend” you with a secret form. Anyone selling guaranteed reinstatement is selling hope.
Confirm it’s actually a suspension
In the Business Profile manager you should see suspension language, not just “we can’t find you on Maps.” If the status is active and customers still can’t see you, you’re in not showing or disappeared checklist territory โ different problems.
Use Google’s process
Start from Google’s own help for suspended profiles: Fix a suspended profile (URL may move; search Google’s help centre for “suspended Business Profile” if it does).
Appeals go through Google. Your job is to make the profile accurate and the appeal factual โ not theatrical.
Common reasons (the unromantic list)
Patterns I see again and again:
- Business name stuffed with keywords or slogans
- Address that doesn’t match how the business really operates (especially service-area vs storefront rules)
- Create / claim behaviour that looks like spam (duplicates, rapid re-creates)
- Category or offer issues that trip restricted categories
- Evidence Google thinks the business isn’t real at that location
Read Google’s prohibited content / representation rules rather than a blog from 2018.
What to do before you appeal
- Fix anything obviously wrong (name, address, website, categories).
- Do not open a fresh duplicate profile while you wait. That often digs the hole deeper.
- Gather simple proof you’re real: site, Companies House if relevant, photos of the premises, consistent NAP on a few trusted places.
- Appeal once, clearly. Then wait. Spamming appeals with new essays every day is not a strategy.
What I can help with vs what I can’t
I can help you sanity-check the public details, the website alignment, and whether you’re about to create a duplicate mess. I can help you write a calm timeline of what changed.
I can’t promise Google will reinstate you. I can’t bypass their review. Anyone who says otherwise is a liability.
After reinstatement
Don’t celebrate by stuffing the name again. Don’t “boost” with fake engagement. Get Maps basics clean and leave it stable.
Parent context
This is one fork of why doesn’t my business show up on Google?. Painful fork. Still better faced squarely.
Need a calm second look?
Free visibility check โ say you’re suspended and what Google showed in the manager. I’ll tell you what I’d fix before an appeal. No miracle claims.
