Why did my Google reviews stop showing?

๐Ÿ“… August 21, 2026 | โœ๏ธ Don Curtin

Reviews were there. Then they weren’t โ€” or the count dropped, or customers say they can’t see what you see. The internet will offer conspiracy theories before breakfast. Most of the time the cause is duller.

I’m not here to frighten you into a reputation-management retainer. I’m here to separate “filter” from “profile on fire.”

Confirm what “stopped showing” means

Be precise:

Each points somewhere slightly different. Screenshot what you see and what a friend sees. Arguments without screenshots go in circles.

Filtered reviews are real

Google filters reviews that look unhelpful, suspicious, or against their policies. Filtered reviews may still exist in some owner views and not for the public. That feels like theft. It’s usually automated caution โ€” imperfect, sometimes wrong, occasionally reversed later.

If a tranche of same-day reviews from brand-new accounts arrived after a promotion, don’t be shocked if Google gets twitchy. I won’t help you engineer review blasts. That path ends badly.

Google’s own notes on reviews policies are the reference, not a TikTok thread.

Profile problems masquerading as review problems

If the whole listing is suspended, suppressed, or duplicated, reviews hitch a ride on that mess. Check status first via listing disappeared and GBP not showing.

Fixing reviews on a suspended profile is rearranging deck chairs.

Temporary glitches

Yes, they happen. Maps UI bugs. Delayed updates after edits. Give it a little time if everything else looks healthy and only one device is weird. If it’s still wrong in a few days across devices, stop waiting and investigate properly.

What I’d avoid

How this connects

Reviews are trust. They are not the whole of Maps visibility. If the pin is missing, start there. If the pin is fine and stars look wrong, stay on this page’s checks.

Parent triage: why doesn’t my business show up on Google?.

Want a sanity check?

Free visibility check. Describe what vanished and whether the listing itself still appears in Maps. I’ll say whether it smells like filter, profile, or wait-and-see.
